The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has issued a warning to senior party members who are publicly supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reelection in 2027 to either change their ways or risk harsh penalties for anti-party actions.

The decision was made in the midst of widening internal divisions stoked by well-publicized defections and expressions of support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The NWC emphasised in a statement signed by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary, that such behaviour is violated by Section 10(6) of the PDP Constitution, which prohibits members from allying with other parties or groups in a manner that harms the PDP.

It warned of harsher disciplinary actions if offenders did not take back their remarks.

This coincides with the party South-south chairman announcement that it will take a decision on FCT minister Wike’s membership adding that Wike had gone too far.

Quoting the party’s constitution, the NWC said: “No member of the party shall align with other parties or groups to undermine the party or any of its elected government.” The warning follows a string of public endorsements for Tinubu from key PDP figures.

Recall that FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, who is still a member of the party, openly supported Tinubu in June, describing himself as a valuable addition to the president’s campaign.

Similarly, following stakeholder talks, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Osun PDP caucus also announced their support for Tinubu last month, calling him a “proud son of Osun.”

Ladi Adebutu, a past candidate for governor of Ogun State, and the state chapter as a whole supported Tinubu’s reelection.

The party’s NWC urged all members to stay united ahead of the PDP National Convention, set for 15–16 November 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“The NWC charges all members of the party to remain loyal, focused, and work assiduously towards the successful conduct of the PDP National Convention,” the statement added.
