Hundreds of heavily armed political thugs have been arrested by security operatives during the ongoing by-election in Kano State.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Kano State, Ambassador Abdu Zango, confirmed to journalists that the thugs were intercepted by security personnel while attempting to enter Bagwai, where voting
He said it took the intervention of security personnel to restore normalcy in the area.
Shanono is known to be a volatile area during elections but the REC said the presence of security operatives has ensured that the by-election is moving smoothly.
