Ademola Adeleke Orders Urgent Security Measures Over Rising School Kidnapping Concerns

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered the immediate revitalisation of the Safe School Initiative following recent kidnapping incidents reported in Oyo State.

The directive was announced in a statement published on the official Osun State Government page on May 17, 2026.

According to the statement, Governor Ademola Adeleke instructed the Ministry of Education, alongside relevant security agencies and government bodies, to intensify efforts aimed at preventing any possible spread of kidnapping activities into Osun State.

The governor also directed security operatives to strengthen intelligence gathering around schools located in border communities and other remote areas across the state.

In addition, the statement revealed that the Amotekun Corps was ordered to deepen collaboration with non-governmental peace organisations currently assisting with school security operations in the state.

Ademola Adeleke reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to protecting students across the state’s educational system, noting that steps were already being taken to improve security, particularly in rural schools.

He further assured parents and school authorities of the safety of pupils and directed his security adviser to strengthen the state’s school safety strategy.
