The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the appointment of Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, along with other serving and former governors, as coordinators and collation officers for various states ahead of its presidential primary election.
APC also confirmed that it has adopted a direct primary system, allowing all registered members to participate in the nationwide exercise.
According to a statement released by the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, the direct primaries are scheduled to take place across all 8,809 wards in the country on May 24, 2026.
In addition, several other governors were assigned to oversee and coordinate the process in their respective states.
The document explained that each state coordinator and collation officer will be responsible for supervising the conduct of the primary election within their state, aggregating results from all local government areas, and submitting them to the Presidential Primary Election Committee in Abuja.

It further noted that the guidelines for conducting both direct and consensus primaries, earlier communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), will also apply fully to the process.
The statement, signed by APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, emphasized that the established procedures would be strictly followed throughout the exercise.
