Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Monday expressed support for the emergence of Kingsley Chinda as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.
Nyesom Wike said Chinda possesses the experience and political background required to lead the state effectively.
Speaking during an inspection tour of major infrastructure projects in Abuja, the FCT minister described Chinda as a “strong political material” with wide acceptance and proven experience.
“A good product markets itself. Everybody knows that Kingsley Chinda is the material. He is quite experienced. He has worked with the executive and is now in the legislature,” Wike said.
Nyesom Wike added that Chinda’s political record made his emergence unsurprising and widely acceptable.
Nyesom Wike also commended the progress of ongoing infrastructural developments across the Federal Capital Territory, noting that several projects were nearing completion and ready for commissioning.

According to him, the projects reflect President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to visible governance through infrastructure renewal.
“I think today is one of the happiest days. The projects we inspected are clearly ready for inauguration,” he said.
During the tour, Nyesom Wike first visited the Renewed Hope City road project in Karsana, which he said was about 98 percent completed, praising Lubriks Construction Company for its quality delivery.
He also inspected the Old Keffi Road and Dei-Dei road projects, noting that asphalt laying had largely been completed, with streetlight installation ongoing.
At the Airport Road to Kuje Road project handled by Arab Contractors, Wike described the work as impressive, saying it would significantly improve transportation and boost economic activity in the area.
“I’m sure anyone who goes there will admire it—that is what governance is about. We are very proud of the contractors and what they have achieved,” he said.
He further inspected the Kuje–Gwagwalada road project by Gilmor Engineering Limited, commending how infrastructure has transformed the area.
“You can see how infrastructure has changed the entire landscape of Kuje,” he noted.
Nyesom Wike also visited the City Gate project handled by Julius Berger, describing it as a major transformation of the nation’s capital entrance.
He credited the initiative to Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, saying it would give Abuja a striking new appearance, especially at night.
“When you have a good woman who supports the administration of her husband, I’m referring to the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, this is her initiative,” he said.
He added that the contractor had assured delivery by the end of May or early June and expressed confidence that the timeline would be met.
“Anyone passing here at night will see a transformed city and know they are entering the capital of Nigeria,” Nyesom Wike stated.
