African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar, has said it is not yet time for celebration following his emergence as the party’s flagbearer.
In a post shared on X, the former Vice President called on all aspirants in the party to unite and focus on what he described as the urgent task of rescuing Nigeria from corruption, incompetence, and division under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government.
Atiku emphasized that no one should consider themselves defeated, noting that all members of the party remain united in a common political goal.
He wrote: “I must state at this juncture that this is not the time to celebrate. No one was defeated because we are one party and we all need to recognise the fierce urgency of the moment.

“Therefore, we have to unite, as we pledged before this process, to work to pull our country and our people out of the destructive grip of a corrupt, incompetent and polarising APC government.”
He also praised the ADC primary election committee for conducting what he described as a peaceful, free, fair, and transparent process across the country.
Atiku further appreciated party leaders, stakeholders, volunteers, members, and supporters for their commitment and discipline during the primaries.
He added that with the primary election concluded, attention must now shift to serious campampaign preparations ahead of the general elections, stressing the need to “rescue” the country and its citizens from current governance challenges.
