The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has assured all aspirants of a fair and equal opportunity as it conducts its ongoing primary elections across the country.
The party’s national leader, Seriake Dickson, gave the assurance in a statement posted on X on Friday, stressing that no candidate has been endorsed by the party leadership.
According to him, every aspirant is being given equal protection and access to a level playing field ahead of the primaries.
He explained that the party’s decision to avoid endorsing any candidate, including in his home state of Bayelsa, underscores its commitment to fairness and internal democracy.
“All aspirants have equal protection, and that is why I have not endorsed anyone, even in my home state. The same principle applies nationwide,” Dickson said.

He urged contestants and party stakeholders to place the interest of the young party above personal ambitions, calling for unity, mutual respect, and peaceful participation throughout the process.
Dickson also described the NDC as a “miracle baby,” noting that it successfully met the stringent timelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through sustained effort and dedication.
He added that the party leadership worked tirelessly under challenging conditions to establish and strengthen the party structure within a short period.
