Paul Ibe, media adviser to Atiku Abubakar, has said President Bola Tinubu should step down over what he described as the government’s inability to tackle insecurity across the country.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Tuesday, Ibe argued that the foremost duty of any government is to guarantee the security and welfare of its citizens.
He claimed that Nigeria is currently less secure than it was in 2023, citing figures which, according to him, show that 879 people have been killed while nearly 300 others are still being held captive.
Describing the numbers as disturbing, Ibe said they reflect the worsening insecurity situation in the country.
He further criticised the government’s handling of the crisis, saying the measures taken so far have not produced enough results and warning that Nigeria cannot continue with what he called a “trial and error” style of governance.
According to him, the growing insecurity raises serious concerns about the administration’s capacity to effectively manage the country’s challenges.
