Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has declared himself Tinubu’s Campaign Commander, announcing that he will lead President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign across both the FCT and Rivers State.
Speaking at a Rainbow Coalition stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja on Monday, Wike declared himself the operational field commander for the presidential campaign in the territory.
He outlined plans for a joint cross-party alliance bringing together members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the coalition banner.
Wike confirmed that the cross-party movement has resolved to back APC candidates for National Assembly seats in the FCT, stressing that political party affiliations will not impede collaborative efforts to deliver total electoral support for President Tinubu.
The Rainbow Coalition stakeholders’ meeting brought together key political figures from both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including party chairmen, serving and former senators, National Assembly candidates, and the leadership of the six FCT area councils.
In a rare display of cross-party alignment, PDP candidates contesting for National Assembly seats formally endorsed their APC counterparts for the upcoming elections.
Emphasizing unified action, Wike urged coalition members to prioritize their shared political objective over individual party affiliations.
“For the presidency, all of us have agreed that it is Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I am going to coordinate the FCT and Rivers State. So you can imagine how important it is.
“I am in charge of the FCT election. I am the commander of field operations as far as the FCT election is concerned.
“I want to let all of you know that we are going to work together. Nobody should say, ‘I am PDP’ or ‘I am APC.’ For the purpose of this election, we are together,” he said.
