He stated that Nigeria will spend N8.73 billion on constructing electricity infrastructures for the airport under the Federal Government budgets for 2024, as shown in the report by BudgIT.

The whole purpose of the funds has been related to ensuring that the new terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, enjoys unhindered electricity supply.

The aforementioned expenditure is a part of a report that BudgIT’s GovSpend released and viewed on the pages of DAILY POST on Wednesday.

It was narrated also that a huge part of the money was credited to J. Marine Logistics Ltd for outsourcing the supply of electricity. As an illustration, it further went on to quote J. Marine Logistics N5.67 billion in power supply from March to September 2023; N2.19 billion on 9 May 2024 for power supply services rendered between October and November 2023, and part of the month December 2023; and N874.42 million as an add-on amount on the same day for part payment of the energy consumed within that period.

It has come to this because of many incidences of erratic power supply in the airport.

He added that there need to be further sustainable solutions, while recognizing the efforts of the government to promising action in through and within this direction. “The airport should have an alternative power supply, probably a solar system or installed with a windmill,” he said.
