A terrorist group, Boko Haram, has been said to have injured six Nigerian soldiers in a fresh drone attack on the military base in Borno State.
The attack was carried out on the military base in Wajiroko in the Damboa Local Government Area on Tuesday afternoon.
A soldier who wants to remain anonymous said the terrorist group had initially attacked the base, but the attack was repelled. Only for them to hear a jet-like sound followed by multiple explosions.
A military signal confirms the attack, it reads, It reads, “AT ABOUT 231300A DEC 24, TERRS LAUNCHED ATTK USING MOR AND OTHER FIRE ARMS ON TPS AT FOB WAJIROKO IN DAMBOA LGA. TPS REPELLED THE ATTK, FORCING TERRS TO WDR IN DISARRAY.
“SHORTLY AFTER, AT ABOUT 231323A DEC 24, FOB WAJIROKO CAME UNDER ANOTHER ATTK USING MULTIPLE ARMED DRONES CARRYING LOCALLY FABRICATED GREN. The north-east part of Nigeria has been plagued with these insurgents, and it’s looking like the military cannot fully extinguish the terrorist groups that have driven many from their homes and killed many in Borno.
