A young woman in Yobe was reportedly stabbed by a suspected phone thief.

In Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, a 24-year-old woman named Sheba Simon was stabbed by an unidentified assailant suspected to be a phone thief.

The incident occurred near Damaturu City College on Malali Bypass around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Reports indicate that Sheba, who works as a salesgirl, was walking home from work when she was attacked by the assailant, who stabbed her with a knife and fled with her cellphone, leaving her wounded.

Witnesses heard her cries for help and rushed to assist. They promptly transported her to the Specialist Hospital Damaturu, where she is currently receiving medical treatment.

DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Tuesday, April 30. The police have initiated efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
