Notorious Bandit Turji Breaks, Ready to Surrender to Military

He stated that the recent removal of Turji’s second-in-command and numerous lieutenants has diminished the options available to the terrorist leader, forcing him to reassess his situation.

“Now, he is compelled to release most of the individuals under his command,” General Musa remarked. “Lately, he has started expressing that he desires nothing; he is prepared to surrender.”

Nevertheless, the Defence Chief emphasized that surrender does not exempt individuals like Turji from facing consequences for their actions.

“We aim to eliminate everyone. Those who have killed should be dealt with.

Individuals like him should not be permitted to remain,” Musa stated, referring to the military’s dedication to delivering justice and restoring tranquility in affected areas.

Bello Turji ranks among the most wanted terrorist leaders in Nigeria, notorious for carrying out attacks, kidnappings, and murders throughout the northwest.

Following their ongoing efforts against Turji, the military announced on Wednesday that troops from Operation Fansan Yamma eliminated his second-in-command, known as Aminu Kanawa.

According to a statement by Defence Director Edward Buba, the troops also caused significant injuries to some of Turji’s close associates, identified as Dosso (Bello Turji’s younger brother) and Danbokolo (one of Turji’s closest confidants).

Additionally, the military reported that several key commanders of Bello Turji were neutralized, including: Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, Dan Kane, Basiru Yellow, Kabiru Gebe, Bello Buba, and Dan Inna Kahon-Saniya-Yafi-Bahaushe, among others.

More than 24 fleeing terrorists from Bello Turji’s camp around Gebe and Isa LGA in Sokoto State, as well as in Gidan Rijiya in Shinkafi LGA of Zamfara State, were also neutralized, as stated in the report.
