A 48-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly luring a 13-year-old housemaid into his residence and spending the night with her.
The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect, who lives alone in Yolde Pate, Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State, allegedly deceived the girl into his apartment, where she reportedly spent the night.
Police Adamawa spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the victim was earlier declared missing by her employer after she failed to return home.
He explained that the employer reported the case after several efforts to locate the girl proved unsuccessful.
Nguroje further stated that the suspect, identified as Adamu Mohammed, allegedly exploited the situation before the girl was eventually found.
He added that the suspect will be prosecuted once investigations are concluded.
