Eniola Bolaji, 18, Clinches Nigeria’s First Medal at 2024 Paralympics in Paris.
Eniola Mariam Bolaji has etched her name in history as the first African athlete to secure a medal in Para-Badminton at the Paralympics. The 18-year-old Nigerian earned a Bronze medal in the Women’s Singles SL3 category, marking Nigeria’s first Paralympics medal in Paris.
On September 1, Bolaji clinched the Bronze medal by defeating Ukraine’s Oksana Kozyna in straight sets, 21-9, 21-9. Despite her strong performance, she fell short of gold in the semi-finals, losing 16-21, 17-21 to China’s Zuxian Xiao. Bolaji entered the competition as a strong contender, having previously triumphed in tournaments held in Egypt and Spain.
