Samsung Galaxy S25 to Launch Jan 22: What to Expect

The most significant highlight from last week’s Samsung CES press conference might have been the announcement of another press conference. The hardware company concluded the main event by teasing its forthcoming show. The next Samsung Unpacked event is scheduled for January 22 at 10 a.m. PT.

As with all recent Unpacked events, the upcoming show will be streamed live through both Samsung’s website and the company’s YouTube channel.

To encourage early preorders, Samsung is offering a $50 store credit for reservations made before the event. You can find all the details about that here.

The Galaxy S25 lineup is guaranteed to be a major focus for the event. Since moving its mobile announcements away from CES/MWC, the company has established a twice-a-year release schedule for its flagship devices. The Galaxy S series typically launches around January/February, followed by new foldable models in the summer.

This lineup is expected to consist of three main models: the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, with the latter incorporating features from the Galaxy Note as its most advanced flagship device. As is typical before such events, there has been a flurry of leaks, renders, and case designs.

The cases provide a general idea of the dimensions for the devices since they are manufactured according to specifications submitted by Samsung.

Most rumors suggest that the S25 will closely resemble its predecessor. The most notable change in terms of hardware is a slimmer profile. Recent rumors indicate that Samsung plans to reduce the device’s thickness by 1 to 2 millimeters.

Additionally, there is a strong likelihood that the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, unveiled by Qualcomm in Hawaii last October, will be included. (It’s important to note that there can be some variation in processors across international markets; however, for the U.S. market, it seems nearly certain.)

Galaxy AI is expected to take center stage as Samsung aims not only to establish itself as a leader in this field but also to set its offerings apart from the Google Gemini features available on Android devices. Last year’s major AI announcement was Circle to Search, which debuted on the S24.

Other potential announcements—though significantly less assured—might include an updated version of the Galaxy Ring wearable and more details about Project Moohan, a joint development with Google of an extended reality headset.
