Now, when you shop in person, Google Lens can check prices and inventory.

Google Lens was first developed to facilitate online shopping, but it is currently being updated to facilitate in-store shopping by providing product insights, pricing comparisons, and local inventory availability. In addition to this announcement, the business is expanding Google Pay’s functionality and introducing new shopping features to Maps in time for the holiday shopping season.

Google’s efforts through its Google Shopping vertical are expanded upon by the Google Lens improvements. According to the theory, Google Lens, the company’s visual search engine, can facilitate access to similar sets of well-informed purchase selections that individuals must make in the real world.

For example, you can use Google Lens to snap a photo of a toy you’re interested in at Target in order to find reviews and comparable items that are available at that particular store. Additionally, you might check to see whether the toy is less expensive at another store, such as Walmart or Amazon.
Google claims that its Gemini models and Shopping Graph’s 45 billion product listings are the driving forces behind the new feature.

Google’s VP of Consumer Shopping Product, Lilian Rincon, told TechCrunch, “We’re launching a new tool that transforms how people shop in physical stores, using AI to take the guesswork out of in-store shopping.” “We’ve all learned to rely on reading reviews, comparing prices, and doing research before making a purchase, but there’s nothing like the magic of in-store shopping during the holidays.”

The capability will first be available for usage with gadgets, toys, and cosmetics at retailers who give Google access to their local inventory. Target, Ulta Beauty, Sally Beauty Supply, Macy’s, Nordstrom, and more stores are currently among these retailers.

“We are aware that customers enjoy using Lens,” Rincon stated.

Actually, 20% of the over 20 billion visual searches that occur on Lens each month are related to shopping. We are therefore eager to launch this. It provides some of the crucial information to boost a customer’s self-assurance.

According to Google, users will soon be able to search for products in Maps and locate local retailers who sell them. For example, you might look for a festive sweater to discover what possibilities are available right now at retailers in your area. You can look for groceries, apparel, gadgets, and household products. In the upcoming weeks, the new Maps function will launch in the United States. After introducing Affirm and Zip to Google Pay earlier this year, the company is now expanding its buy now, pay later alternatives. When checking out with Google Pay, users can now choose to use Afterpay; Klarna support will be added soon.
