The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed optimism that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will record stronger performance in the FCT, attributing this to growing grassroots acceptance and increasing appreciation of ongoing infrastructure projects across the territory.
Wike said residents are beginning to respond positively to what he described as visible governance, particularly the expansion of infrastructure to satellite towns and rural communities.
He made the remarks after inspecting six of the projects slated for commissioning ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s third-year anniversary celebration in Abuja.
According to him, citizens are primarily interested in tangible governance outcomes such as infrastructure, electricity, and improved living standards rather than rhetoric.

He disclosed that at least 20 projects are set for inauguration, noting that the number could rise as additional projects are still being completed.
Wike explained that the list includes water projects in Bwari and Karu, as well as developments within AMAC and Bwari Area Councils.
He also highlighted road projects such as the Gomani–Yangoji and Kuje–Gwagwalada roads, stressing that the spread of infrastructure across satellite towns represents a new phase of development in the FCT.
The minister added that ongoing works at the Abuja Court of Appeal Complex in Dakibiyu, Judges’ Quarters in Katampe, internal district roads, and the relocation site for Apo Mechanic Village are at advanced stages.
He further stated that facilities at the informal sector site, including roads and streetlights, have been completed, with only water connection remaining. He also noted that preparations are underway for a police station and residential quarters at the site, in collaboration with security agencies.
