Miss South Africa 2024, Mia Le Roux, has made the tough decision to step back from the upcoming Miss Universe pageant, citing health concerns.

The competition, set for November 17 at Arena CDMX in Mexico, will go on without her, leaving many South Africans disappointed but supportive.

The Miss South Africa Organisation broke the news on its official X account, sharing a heartfelt statement from Mia. She described the decision as one of the hardest she’s ever had to make but emphasized the need to prioritize her health and recovery.

“I am incredibly thankful for the love and encouragement I’ve received from my fellow South Africans,” Mia expressed. “Walking away from this opportunity is heartbreaking, knowing the expectations and dreams tied to this moment. Still, I’m grateful to focus on my health now so I can return stronger and serve my country with my full energy.”

The Miss South Africa Organisation praised Mia for her resilience and courage, noting that her well-being comes first. “Mia has handled this challenging time with grace.

Her health is our priority, and we are fully behind her as she takes steps to recover. Our thoughts and support are with her every step of the way.”

Mia’s journey as Miss South Africa has been eventful, including a pageant marked by controversies, such as the withdrawal of Nigerian-born finalist Chidimma Adetshina.

Despite the challenges, Mia captured the hearts of her country and was set to represent South Africa on the global stage.

Her withdrawal from Miss Universe has sparked an outpouring of support on social media, with fans praising her bravery and sending messages of hope for her recovery.

Many believe her story reflects strength and determination, values she has consistently displayed during her reign.

As Mia steps away from the limelight to focus on her health, her message resonates: dreams don’t end with one setback. Her journey continues, and South Africa stands united in wishing her a full and speedy recovery.
