Osimhen brushes off scandal, takes CAF POTY award to Olusosun Primary School.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, crowned CAF Player of the Year for 2023, was seen on the streets of Lagos with his prestigious award. The controversy from his recent Instagram rant was a distant memory as he reunited with old friends at his alma mater, Olusosun Primary School in Oregun, Lagos.

Osimhen’s Stellar Season with Napoli

Osimhen led Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years, scoring 26 goals in 32 appearances. His exceptional performance earned him the CAF Player of the Year award, edging out Achraf Hakimi and Mohamed Salah.

Historic Win for Osimhen

Osimhen’s victory marks the first time in 22 years that a Nigerian has won the African Footballer of the Year title. He is also the first Super Eagles player in nine years to make the podium, following Vincent Enyeama’s third-place finish in 2014.

Returning to Roots

During his off-season holiday, Osimhen visited Olusosun Primary School, where his football journey began. The event was documented by X user @SoccerNationNG, who shared a video of Osimhen proudly displaying his award on the same pitch where he started his career.

The celebration in Oregun was a joyous occasion, marking Osimhen’s triumphant return and his acknowledgment of his humble beginnings.
