Dino Melaye delivers jubilant Arsenal-style praise as Atiku secures dramatic ADC presidential ticket victory

Dino Melaye, former senator representing Kogi West, has congratulated former Vice President Atiku Abubakar following his emergence as the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Dino Melaye compared Atiku’s victory at the ADC presidential primary to Arsenal’s recent English Premier League triumph.

Reacting in a post on X, he wrote: “Boss, you did it just like Arsenal.”

The chairman of the ADC presidential primary election committee, Tunde Ogbeha, announced on Wednesday night that Atiku emerged victorious in the contest.

According to Ogbeha, Atiku secured 1,846,370 votes to defeat fellow aspirants Mohammed Hayatu-Deen and Rotimi Amaechi.

Amaechi polled 504,117 votes, while Hayatu-Deen received 177,120 votes.

With the victory, Atiku will once again contest for Nigeria’s presidency in 2027, marking his sixth attempt at the nation’s highest office.

He previously contested presidential elections in 2007, 2019, and 2023.

Dino Melaye’s comparison referenced Arsenal’s recent Premier League success, which came after Manchester City played a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on May 19, sealing Arsenal’s first league title in 22 years.
