That the presidency of President Bolla Ahmed Tinubu would bring down the food prices and also reduce inflation to 15 percent from its existing 34.60 percent as captured in the records of November 2024, was promised by the President himself.

This was said to be made by the President in the New Year message directed to the citizens of Nigeria on Wednesday.

The government is expected to significantly raise food production to bring down the cost of food in the country.

In addition to this, it is also expected that there would be increased local manufacturing of essential medicines and other medical supplies.

He promised improved credit access to individuals and important sectors of the economy in an effort to drive the national economic output upwards.

“The government is determined to re-double its efforts to be able to cut down on these expenditures by increasing food production and local manufacturing of basic essential medicines and medical supplies by 2025,” he said. “By hard work and with God’s grace we shall reach there and take all our people with us.”
To this end, Tinubu also sought the cooperation and support of Nigerians in the attainment of the desired economic goals of the administration in the new year.

“I seek your cooperation and collaboration at all times as we pursue our goal of a one trillion-dollar economy. Let us stay positioned and together,” he said.
