VP Shettima Calls Emergency Meeting on Petrol Price Increase.
Vice President Kashim Shettima has summoned key officials, including the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and the Group Managing Director of NNPCL, Mele Kyari, over the recent surge in petrol prices. The meeting, held at the Presidential Villa, also included the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. The fuel price hike, ranging from N855 to N1,200 per litre, has caused significant increases in transport fares across Nigeria, leading to widespread public frustration and protests. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Afenifere have demanded a reversal, citing its harsh impact on citizens.
