Nigerian RnB superstar Tems is making waves yet again, securing three Grammy nominations for the 67th annual awards. She’s now the most-nominated Nigerian artist in this Grammy season, earning spots in Best African Music Performance, Best Global Album, and Best RnB Song.
Tems’ debut album, Born In The Wild, scored a nomination in the Best Global Album category, making her the first Nigerian female artist to receive a Grammy nod for an album.
Her single Burning also landed a nomination for Best RnB Song, marking the first time an African artist has been recognized in the RnB category. This accomplishment also sets her apart as the first African female lead artist to gain nominations outside of the global categories.
These latest nominations extend her overall Grammy nod count to six, which solidifies her position as the most-nominated Nigerian female artist in Grammy history.
In terms of total nominations in a single Grammy year, Tems now ranks just behind Burna Boy, who set the record with four nominations at last year’s 66th Grammys.
With her unique fusion of RnB and Afrobeats, Tems is captivating a global audience and gaining recognition as a leading figure in music.
Her breakthrough not only highlights her personal achievements in representing and soaring in the music industry as a strong woman but also spotlights Nigerian and African music’s ever-growing influence in the global music scene.
