“PDP Sets Aug. 21 for Committee Inaugurations”.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to inaugurate two crucial committees on August 21, focusing on reconciliation and discipline within the party. This move is part of the party’s ongoing efforts to address internal disputes and maintain cohesion among its members.
The 25-member reconciliation committee will be led by Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a former Governor of Osun State, with Sen. Ibrahim Dankwambo, the former Governor of Gombe State, serving as the committee’s secretary. This committee is tasked with mediating conflicts, fostering unity, and ensuring that grievances among party members are resolved amicably. The aim is to strengthen the party’s internal structure and improve collaboration ahead of upcoming elections.
On the other hand, the 26-member disciplinary committee will be chaired by Chief Tom Ikimi, a seasoned politician and former minister, with Eyitayo Jegede, a prominent legal practitioner, as the secretary. This committee will be responsible for enforcing the party’s code of conduct, addressing cases of indiscipline, and ensuring that members adhere to party rules and regulations. The inclusion of notable figures such as Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, Chief Olabode George, Margaret Icheen, Dr. Sam Egwu, and Alhaji Abubakar Baraje underscores the party’s commitment to upholding order and integrity within its ranks.
The formation of these committees reflects the PDP’s proactive approach to managing internal challenges and positioning itself as a united and disciplined political force. By addressing issues of reconciliation and discipline, the party aims to fortify its structure and present a cohesive front as it prepares for future political contests.
