Chelsea End Osimhen Pursuit, Bid ₦87 Billion for Another Nigerian Star.
Chelsea’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen appears to be off the table as the club shifts its focus to Atletico Madrid’s Samuel Omorodion. According to Sky Sports’ Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea is reportedly aiming to secure the young striker for around €50 million. This decision comes as Chelsea evaluates the cost-effectiveness and long-term potential of the 20-year-old Omorodion compared to Osimhen.
Omorodion’s age and potential resale value make him an attractive option for Chelsea’s project. Additionally, his lower market price and salary demands are advantageous. While Omorodion currently plays for Spain’s youth teams, he remains eligible to switch allegiance to Nigeria, the country of his parents. Despite his appearances for Spain, including a goal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the possibility remains open for him to join the Super Eagles in the future.
