New iOS Update: Apple Adds AI-Powered Photo Object Removal.

Apple has unveiled the latest developer betas for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1 Sequoia, introducing advanced Apple Intelligence features. One notable addition is Clean Up, an AI-powered tool for removing objects from photos. This feature allows users to effortlessly remove unwanted elements while the AI generates matching background, including handling shadows and reflections.

Users can utilize smart detection to remove objects with a single tap or manually circle or brush over items to delete them. This update positions Apple’s new tool in competition with Google’s Magic Eraser, which is available for free in Google Photos.

Earlier this year, Apple released its first set of Apple Intelligence features, including writing tools, notification summaries, and advanced photo management capabilities. Currently, Apple Intelligence is accessible only to English-speaking users in the U.S.
