The final day of the WTT Contender Lagos 2024 saw thrilling table tennis action culminate in the crowning of champions across multiple events. German player Dimitrij Ovtcharov claimed the Men’s Singles title in a decisive victory over Ricardo Walther, securing his second WTT Series singles title with a 4-1 scoreline.
In the Women’s Singles final, Indian standout Sreeja Akula triumphed over China’s Ding Yijie, winning 4-1 and adding to her impressive record in WTT competitions. Akula’s journey to the title included a display of resilience, notably saving three match points in the semifinals.
In the Women’s Doubles, Akula partnered with Archana Girish Kamath to defeat compatriots Yashaswini Ghorpade and Diya Parag Chitale, clinching the title with a 3-0 victory in their debut international final together.
The Men’s Doubles final featured a competitive matchup between Nigerian duo Azeez Solanke and Olajide Omotayo against the experienced Indian pair of Harmeet Desai and Manav Vikash Thakkar, with Desai and Thakkar emerging victorious.
