Eleven fake Revenue collectors have been arrested by the Abia State Harmonized Task Force in Aba.
The Abia State Harmonized Task Force (ASHTF) apprehended eleven individuals posing as revenue collectors on Ehi Road, Aba.
Their arrest took place on Sunday through a coordinated
operation involving ASHTF and the police. The early morning raid was led by Uche Wogu, the Aba area coordinator of ASHTF.
Miracle Chukwunenye, the media consultant for ASHTF, confirmed the arrests. According to him, the team successfully detained the suspects who were subsequently taken to the Ndiegoro Police Station in Aba.
He further explained that the individuals had been allegedly collecting revenue on behalf of certain communities, claiming they had been authorized for the task by the Aba South Local Government Area since 2017.
Additionally, he added that two auto mechanics were arrested for engaging in activities that obstructing traffic or caused damage to major roads. They were also handed over to the Ndiegoro Police Division.
The Abia state Harmonized Task Force has issued a stern warning to faker revenue collectors, urging them to cease their illegal activities. The task force also advised the traders to make payments only through government accounts and report to any fraudulent revenue agents to Abia state government.
