Former Kano State Governor and prominent Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) figure, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has spoken on political betrayal, insecurity, education, and previous political disagreements during a two-hour media chat held at his residence in Kano on Sunday.

During the discussion, Rabiu Kwankwaso expressed disappointment over what he described as betrayal by some of his trusted political allies.

Reacting to comments allegedly made by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf regarding political defections, Kwankwaso dismissed the matter with a Hausa proverb: “Ina ruwan jaka da inda aka ajiye ta,” which translates to, “A bag has no control over where it is placed.”

Rabiu Kwankwaso stated that he never expected betrayal from the individual in question, adding that he had placed complete trust in him but was now disappointed by the outcome.

The former presidential candidate also criticised some beneficiaries of his administration’s educational initiatives, saying a number of those who benefited from government-sponsored education later turned against the political movement that supported them.

According to him, many of them were very young when they received the support, but eventually became critics of the same political structure that helped them.

Speaking on Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso claimed there was an agreement that Obi would serve only one term if elected president.

He added that if Obi later decides to pursue a second term, political actors would know how to respond.

On the issue of insecurity, Kwankwaso linked terrorism and violent crimes in some states to inadequate investment in education.

He argued that many states currently battling insecurity failed to prioritise education the way his administration did during his time as governor of Kano State.
