FCT Police Arrest Igbo Man Carrying Weapons Arsenal in Bwari

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has recovered a weapons arsenal from Obinna Nwigwe at Najob Guest House in Bwari in Bwari Area Council.

The recovery by the police was carried out on 26th December 2024, when a gunfire incident was reported by residents in the area.

SP Josephine Adeh, FCT Police Command spokesperson, said in responding to the gunfire report, “We discovered 29-year-old Andrew Philemon bleeding from critical injuries after being shot by 33-year-old Obinna Nwigwe.”

She further said, “At the time of the incident, Nwigwe was armed with a pump-action rifle.”

The police conducted a thorough search of Nwigwe’s residence and found an “alarming array of weapons,” including five Dane guns, one English-made single barrel, an AK47 magazine containing 29 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition, four live cartridges, seventeen expanded cartridges, a bow with arrows, various knives, a sword stick, and a toy gun, amongst others.

“A taser and a bulletproof jacket with multiple sets of police uniforms and boots were also recovered from the suspect.”

“Andrew Philemon is currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital, while Obinna Nwigwe is expected to face charges once the investigation concludes,” the statement added.
