Bolaji Akinyemi: Israel Has Lost Its International Moral Standing.

Former Foreign Affairs Minister, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, has expressed deep concerns over Israel’s current international and internal status, particularly in light of the ongoing conflict in Gaza. In an interview with Arise Television, Akinyemi stated that Israel has lost both its international moral standing and internal cohesion.

Akinyemi highlighted that the International Criminal Court (ICC) issue is severely damaging Israel’s reputation. He accused Mossad, Israel’s national intelligence agency, of targeting ICC officials through blackmail and threats to their families, aiming to halt investigations into Israel’s actions. He also mentioned attempts to breach the archives of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and possible threats against its judges to influence their decisions.

“Israel is prepared to destroy anything and everything that stands in its way, which is not the kind of image a country wants to have internationally,” Akinyemi remarked.

Additionally, Akinyemi pointed out troubling reports from Gaza, where Israeli soldiers have allegedly been disobeying central command and acting independently, leading to a significant increase in Palestinian casualties. This breakdown in military discipline reflects broader issues within the Israeli government, marked by recent cabinet resignations and internal discord.

Akinyemi also noted that the opposition leader in Israel has expressed willingness to support Prime Minister Netanyahu, not by joining the government, but by helping to prevent the country from fracturing further. This support underscores the critical nature of maintaining national unity amidst growing internal strife.

He emphasized that Israel’s current actions and internal issues are not only problematic for the nation itself but also pose challenges for the global community. Akinyemi’s statements reflect a deep concern over the direction in which Israel is heading, both in terms of its international reputation and its internal stability.
