Nigerian military detains seven IPOB commanders and wanted terrorist Habu Dogo Internship
Seven commanders of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and a wanted terrorist, Abubakar Bawa Ibrahim, also known as Habu Dogo, have been taken into custody by Nigerian troops.
The forces detained Habu Dogo at Rumji Village in the Illela Local Government Area of Sokoto State, according to a statement released by the Defense Headquarters (DHQ) on Saturday by Major General Edward Buba, Director, Defence Media Operations.
According to Maj.-Gen. Buba, Habu Dogo’s cross-border terrorist operations made him a wanted terrorist on the security agencies’ watch lists in Nigeria and the Niger Republic.
The military also disclosed that seven commanders and operatives of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) were arrested as a result of its operation in the South East.
These suspects include Ngozi Chukwuka and Oyekachi Ohia, who were detained in Umuahia South LGA of Abia; and Dr. Nnamdi Chukwudoze and Chigozie Ezetoha (also known as Chapet), who were detained in Ihiala LGA of Anambra.
Others include Elijah Mmaduipeya Obumneke, who was detained in Orsu LGA of Imo, and Ifeanyi Eze, Augustine Udemba, and Onyedikachi Udemba, who were arrested in Umunneochi LGA of Abia.
According to the military, throughout the previous week, it has detained 262 people, murdered 187 criminals, rescued 147 hostages who had been kidnapped, and retrieved 5,241 different types of ammunition and 205 different types of weaponry.
Two G3 rifles, two PKT rifles, eighty-nine AK-47 rifles, twenty-two fabricated rifles, twenty-two Dane guns, and two FN rifles are divided as follows:
Twenty-seven locally made pistols, twenty-nine pump action guns, two pump action shotguns, one DICON pistol, eight double barrel guns, one barreta pistol, and thirty-two magazines.Other goods include 662 live cartridges, two Baofeng radios, six automobiles, 29 motorcycles, 55 cell phones, 131 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm, 959 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm, 352 rounds of 9mm ammo, 51 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm ball ammo, 1,862 rounds of 7.62mm special munitions, and 1,244 rounds of 7.62mm NATO.
In the meantime, the military reported that its soldiers recovered an estimated amount during the period under consideration of more than N1.2 billion from oil thieves, with 39 offenders in all
The military also noted that its troops destroyed 49 crude oil cooking ovens, 11 dugout pits, 72 boats, 21 drums, 30 storage tanks and 98 illegal refining sites.
Other items recovered include 873,510 litres of illegally refined AGO, four speedboats, one tricycle, four pumping machines, one outboard engine, two motorcycles, two mobile phones and three vehicles.Other exhibits are 27 locally made pistols, 19 pump action guns, 2 pump action short guns, one DICON pistol, 8 double barrel guns, one barrel pistol and 32 magazines.
