Imo State: Woman Arrested for Killing Husband Over Online Scam Dispute.
The Imo State Police Command has arrested Oluchi Nzemechi, 27, from Uzoagba in Ikeduru LGA, Imo State, for fatally stabbing her 31-year-old partner, Kelechi Nzemechi.
According to ASP Henry Okoye, the command’s spokesperson, Oluchi confessed to the crime during interrogation. She admitted to stabbing Kelechi during a heated argument on June 2 over his failure to share proceeds from internet fraud, commonly known as ‘yahoo yahoo.’
Oluchi revealed that they had fraudulently obtained 250 million Rupiah from a victim in Indonesia. In an attempt to cover up her crime, she left a note on Kelechi’s body before fleeing the scene. Oluchi had been living with Kelechi since 2019 and has a child with him.
Efforts are underway to recover the money for possible return to the victim, and Oluchi is undergoing investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department. She will be arraigned in court.
Reactions on social media varied, with some expressing shock and others condemning Oluchi’s actions. There were also discussions about societal attitudes towards men and women in similar situations.
