Papaya Ex recently sparked reactions online after sharing her struggles with living in Lekki, Lagos, due to water issues.
The social media influencer and actress revealed in a video posted on her Instagram story that she spends a whopping N720,000 monthly on sachet water to meet basic needs like cooking, bathing, and flushing toilets.
According to her, the trouble began when her water pumping machine broke down, leaving her with no other option but to depend solely on pure water.
In her post, Papaya explained that she installed the faulty pumping machine two years ago at the cost of N6 million.
However, replacing it now would cost N14 million, a sum she finds unaffordable at the moment. Frustrated by the situation, she showed her car boot packed with 30 bags of pure water, which she said she uses daily.
She expressed her exhaustion with the expenses and called out others living in Lekki to share how they manage similar challenges.
Her rant quickly became a hot topic on social media, with fans and followers reacting in diverse ways. Some sympathized with her, offering advice and potential solutions.
One commenter suggested she install a large water storage tank and hire water trucks to supply her weekly. Others couldn’t help but poke fun at her predicament, with one quipping, “Na you wan live for Lekki; wetin do Ekiti?”
Some even doubted the authenticity of her claims, as one person said, “We listen, we don’t judge—even though it’s a lie.” Another joked, “No worry, next year, pure water go get banned!”
Meanwhile, others showed concern, urging her to find a more sustainable solution to avoid such outrageous spending.
Papaya’s ordeal sheds light on the unexpected challenges that come with living in upscale areas like Lekki, where basic amenities can sometimes become luxury expenses.
While fans continue to debate her situation, it’s clear her story has struck a chord, sparking conversations about the high cost of living in Lagos.
Whether she will resolve her water troubles or continue this expensive arrangement remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—her followers are invested in seeing how the story unfolds.
