After losing the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, Delta North Senator Ned Nwoko has cried out, saying party leaders had promised him an automatic ticket before he joined the party.

Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa won the Delta North APC senatorial primary after polling 113,309 votes to defeat Senator Ned Nwoko and Maryam Ali, who scored 2,612 and 40 votes respectively.

Nwoko, however, rejected the result, alleging widespread irregularities and manipulation during the exercise.

Speaking on an interview on Prime Time about internal party agreements and the election process, he claimed the national chairman at the time had promised some new party members positions in the party’s leadership structure and appointments in government.

In addition, Nwoko said party leaders had promised him an automatic ticket before he joined the APC, but he later had to contest in the normal primary process, which he described as a departure from the earlier assurance.

He said, “I certainly was told before I came into the party that there would be automatic ticket for me, and why would I just leave like that without making sure that I have a secure ride?”

Speaking further about the primaries, Ned Nwoko stated that he was confident in his position despite disagreements over the results and insisted that he had proof of victory in multiple wards.

BACKSTORY…

This follows Ned’s earlier allegation that the state government manipulated the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in the area.

He insisted that he was the legitimate winner of the primary election, contrary to the declared result.

He also claimed that the primaries were conducted across 98 wards and that he has video recordings from each ward showing he won the contest, which he intends to present to the party for review.
