Former Minister of Transportation, and ADC presidential contender Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has completely rejected the results of presidential primaries, alleging widespread voter disenfranchisement and electoral malpractice.

Speaking in a statement shared via his official X handle on Tuesday,  Rotimi Amaechi described the outcome of the exercise as “concocted results.”

He  also stated said he had earlier made it clear that he would only accept the outcome of the primaries if the process was free, fair and transparent.

He said, “I will not accept results from a process that does not reflect the values that the ADC had pledged to uphold.”

Additionally, the former minister alleged that about 80 percent of party members across the country were prevented from voting during the exercise.

The former Rivers State governor further accused the party of adopting tactics it had previously condemned in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Furthermore, he argued that the ADC cannot accuse others of vote-buying, election rigging, and manipulation while allegedly engaging in similar practices during its own primary.

Consequently, Amaechi said the development was unacceptable and contradicted the party’s founding principles.

BACKSTORY…

Recall that earlier today, Amaechi emerged as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) faction’s preferred presidential flag bearer in Ebonyi State after the ADC primary across the state’s 171 political wards on Monday.

However, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar floored Amaechi  across Wards in Abia, Gombe, Zamfara, Yobe among others.
