Former champ aiming for dominant return against MMA powerhouse
Anthony Joshua is gearing up for a massive comeback fight in Saudi Arabia this Friday, and he has knockout intentions. His opponent? Former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou.
Joshua, who lost his heavyweight belt in 2021 to Oleksandr Usyk, has bounced back with three consecutive wins. The 34-year-old Brit is determined to reclaim his top contender status.
Joshua: Ready for War, Focused on Improvement
“I believe I can knock him out,” Joshua declared in a recent Sky Sports interview. “Definitely. I would love to make a statement with a knockout. Physically, I feel strong and good – strong enough to get the job done. Mentally, I’m ready for war. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
He continued, “Mentally, I’m not dwelling on my opponent. Instead, I’m focusing on improving my own game and showcasing everything I’ve been working on.”
Ngannou Transitions to Boxing
Ngannou, 37, left the UFC heavyweight title behind due to contract disputes. After a successful exit as a free agent in January 2023, he made his professional boxing debut against Tyson Fury in October, losing by split decision.
